Tuesday 13th October 2015

09.30 – 10.00 - Licensing Explained
A beginner’s Guide to the licensing business and the show.

10.30 – 11.10 - Avoiding Pitfalls in the Licensing Contract
An expert tutorial on the key clauses in a licensing contract which highlighted pitfalls to avoid and included case studies of best practice.
Speaker: John Burns, Partner, Gateley Plc.

11.30 – 12.10 - Licensing Facts, Figures & Trends I: Consumer Products, by GfK
Max offered a detailed examination of current data and significant trends in different licensed product categories, identifying areas of growth and opportunity. He also analysed the impact of video on demand viewing.

12.30 – 13.30 - Keynote Address: Blogilates and building a brand on YouTube by Cassey Ho
Cassey Ho, Entrepreneur and Creator of award-winning YouTube Channel, Blogilates, shared how she has built her own brand, created the largest female fitness channel on YouTube and designed successful products and merchandise for her community of followers. An intresting conversation with Benjamin Grubbs, YouTube Global Head of Top Creators took place during the keynote.

14.15 – 15.15 - SPLiCE Anti-counterfeiting Roundtable
Featured global experts Christian Fortmann, 24IP; Benoit Goyens, World Customs Organization; Trevor Little, World Trademark Review and Ricarda Amberg, United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime.

15.30 – 16.30 - SPLiCE Social Accountability Panel
Featured brands and industry thought leadership including Gina Atwood, SPLiCE Director, Nike, Inc., Clement Francescini, EMEA Partner, Insight Licensing Services and Elise More, The Walt Disney Company, The William Lamb Company.

10.30 – 11.10 - Licensing Facts, Figures & Trends II: Toys & Entertainment trends by NPD Group
Frederique offered current data and an in-depth analysis of the trends driving the toy industry. She examined the impact of today’s entertainment trends on licensing and highlighted areas of opportunity.

11.30 – 12.10 - Panel: Understanding the Potential of Online Gaming Communities
The panel discussion offered expert insight into video game entertainment brands and the dedicated online communities that are driving their success in the offline and at retail.
Moderator: Dan Amos, Head of New Media, Tinderbox; Vikkstar and James Monosmith, Halo Consumer Products Marketing Manager, 343 Industries.

12.30 – 13.30 - Keynote Address: My Life with the Moomins by Sophia Jansson
Sophia Jansson, Creative Director of Moomin Characters and niece of  Moomin creator Tove Jansson shared her story of the classic Moomin brand. She was joined by Roleff Kråkström, Chief Executive Officer of Moomin Characters, and Gustav Melin, Global Licensing Director at Bulls Licensing who offered insights into the Moomin strategy and future plans.

14.15 – 15.15 - SPLiCE Direct to Retail Panel
Featured brands and retailers Dawn Ciccone, PBS; Christine Cool, Chupa Chups; John Carolan, Sainsbury’s and Teri Niadna, Business Development Director, National Football League.

15.30 – 16.10 - Understanding New Viewing Figures, Ratings and Audiences for TV Viewing
An expert tutorial dedicated on how to understand who is watching which shows, when and how in the new era of entertainment on demand. The session included what questions to ask, case studies and guidance on how to interpret viewing figures for new media.

Daniel offered an overview of retail trends and data and before drilling down into specific areas that provide new opportunities for licensing. These will include private label, the evolution of discounters and experience shopping to attract consumers.

11.30 – 12.10 - Bringing Design, Art & Illustration to the World of Licensing
The panel explained how to work with an artist or designer to create products that stands out and sells well at retail.
Moderator: Sarah Lawrence, Managing Director, This Is Iris with Sarah Stevens, Product Manager, Ravensburger Ltd; David Recasens, Licensing Director, Edebé Licensing, and Colin Williams, Creative Director, Sixteensouth Television.

12.30 – 13.30 - License This! 2015: The Final
License This!, BLE’s licensing challenge, celebrated its 6th year in 2015! New creative concepts were pitched live to our panel by this year’s finalists: Natu Natu, by Fran Bravo; OiDroids, by Jonathan Klemenz; Victoria Spunge; by Stuart Simpson and Wussywat, by Simon Quinn. The audience heared the panel offering critique and advice to each presenter before selecting a winner. It’s an exciting event as well as an opportunity to hear expert advice and insight.
