Launched in 2010 to great acclaim, this ‘Dragons Den’ style challenge offers those with brand new creative concepts the opportunity to break into the global licensing industry. It is open to any new property, as long as it has its roots in publishing, art & design, television or digital media and has no merchandising deals already in place or pending.
An expert judging panel will select a shortlist of 4 entries which will be pitched to the judges on 18th October 2012 at Brand Licensing Europe. The winner will receive a fully- furnished stand at Brand Licensing Europe 2013. Click here to download the entry form.
If you have a licensable concept that has yet to be published or broadcast, or a brand that has not yet been extended to non-core consumer products then don’t miss this chance to present it at Europe’s biggest showcase for brand extension.
Andrew Kerr, Managing Director, Aoh!k Commercial Ltd and Chair of the Judging Panel said: “The great thing about licensing is that you can focus on creating a novel, well-formed concept in one medium and then attract partners to help you extend it beyond its foundations. I would urge anyone nurturing a new concept to enter it for License This!.”

The 2011 Winner was ‘How to… for the domestically inept’, a cartoon strip concept created by novice licensor Sarah Watts of the giftware company, 2 Little Boys.
‘How to . . . ‘ is inspired by traditional airline instruction cards and features Sam, the ‘everyman’ who finds the most basic domestic chores a challenge. Sarah says we all know a ‘Sam’ and that the concept has many applications beyond domestic scenarios, one of the things that appealed to the judging panel during the final of the License This! competition.
Sarah Watts said of her License This! win: “I had the idea for ‘How to…’ nearly five years ago, but didn’t know how to develop it or bring it to market. A few months ago a contact of mine recommended I look into coming along to Brand Licensing Europe, so I took a stand, entered License This! and here I am! This means I am coming back next year and the contacts I have made today mean I can develop this concept.”
Andrew Kerr, Managing Director of Aoh!K Commercial Limited and Chair of the Judging Panel concludes: “We were very excited to find a smart, confident and original property. ‘How to…’ is applicable to a host of product categories, making it commercially viable right now.”
Don’t miss this opportunity to showcase your property to over 5,600 retailers, licensees and sales promotion professionals from across Europe. Submit your entry by the 14th September 2012, click here to download the entry form.
